A few people in the U.S wear Bapes however not just them. Their are many rappers who also wear Bapes. In the year 2005 of January Nigo and famous rapper and producer Pharell Williams were able to launch their first bathing ape store in New York. This clothing line is now worn by other rappers today!

Background information on Bapes!

The original maker of Bapes was by a guy named Nigo. His nick name meant the number two in japenese and his role model early influences had been Elvis, The Beatles, and Run DMC. He studied fashion and decided to open a store in Harajuku, Tokyo on the day of April 1, 1993. He started his own brand and named it "Bathing Ape" which means "bathing in lukewarm water" in japenese. (contains of some japenese spiritual practice) Which also is another way to represent the japenese young folks being spoiled and pampered with a lot of good treatment. Just from this Nigo began selling the clothes and business was really good, he began making alot of money.

What are Bapes?

Bapes are basically sneakers, but are really colorful, with many diffrent varieties. They are very rare and unique, not really as popular as the nike brand or reebok, schechers, chucks, or etc.. However that's why they are so cool. Now a days every one is wearing sneakers such as the jordans. They are very popular for young teens in today's society. They have been here since 1984, however were not in style at the time, now the style is coming back. However let's be real do you really want to wear something else that every one else is wearing? when you see something you really like normally your first instinct is let me buy this so i can be the first and hopefully only person to "rock" this. Because Bapes are very rare it not only makes them unique but it makes them in style. what ever is unique is now in style i promise you this for the year 2008. Take a look at all the children character's such as dora, blues clues, even spiderman and super man. Some of those are even being made into songs, they are now in style for teens. Teenagers want to have the back packs of those and want to have other items "rocked" by them which is where they should be putting themselves with the position of BAPES!
